Post-Publication Discussion Policy
Intermestic: Journal of International Studies recognizes that scholarly communication continues after publication. The journal welcomes constructive, evidence-based discussion that contributes to the interpretation, evaluation, and development of published research.
Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
Post-publication discussion may include scholarly comments, critical responses, methodological observations, requests for clarification, and concerns regarding the accuracy, originality, or integrity of a published article.
Submissions must be relevant to the journal's scope, supported by appropriate reasoning or evidence, and written in a professional and respectful manner.
Submission and Assessment
Readers wishing to raise a scholarly concern may contact the editorial office through the journal's official communication channels. Where the journal accepts formal commentaries or responses as separate submissions, these must follow the applicable submission requirements.
The editorial team will assess the relevance, evidentiary basis, scholarly value, and suitability of the proposed discussion. Where appropriate, the journal may invite the original authors to respond and may seek independent expert assessment.
Fairness and Right of Response
The journal aims to provide a fair opportunity for relevant parties to respond to substantive scholarly criticism. Authors of the original article may be invited to submit a response, which will be assessed according to the journal's editorial standards.
Publication of a commentary or response does not imply endorsement of every claim made by its author. Editorial decisions will be based on scholarly merit, evidence, and the integrity of the discussion.
Publication and Linking
Accepted post-publication discussions may be published as separate contributions or handled through another appropriate editorial mechanism available to the journal. Where technically and editorially feasible, the discussion, response, and original article should be linked to facilitate access and context.
Concerns that indicate possible factual errors or research misconduct will be handled under the journal's correction, retraction, or research misconduct policies, as appropriate.
Professional Conduct
Personal attacks, defamatory content, unsupported allegations, and submissions intended primarily to harass or discredit individuals will not be accepted. The journal may decline or edit submissions that fail to meet its scholarly and ethical standards.
The journal encourages critical debate while protecting the rights of authors, readers, and other participants in scholarly communication.
