Manuscript Type

Intermestic: Journal of International Studies publishes scholarly works that contribute to the advancement of international studies, particularly research examining the relationships between international and domestic affairs, global–local interactions, and transnational processes. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary and theoretically informed contributions relevant to its focus and scope.

The journal accepts the following manuscript types:

1. Original Research Articles
Original Research Articles present the findings of original empirical or theoretical research. Manuscripts may employ qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches. They should demonstrate a clear research question, a sound methodological approach, engagement with relevant literature, and an original contribution to international studies.

2. Review Articles
Review Articles critically synthesize and evaluate existing scholarship on a clearly defined topic. They should provide a systematic or otherwise transparent approach to identifying and analyzing relevant literature, explain their contribution to ongoing scholarly debates, and identify gaps or directions for future research.

3. Perspective Articles
Perspective Articles offer theoretically grounded, critical, or forward-looking arguments concerning significant developments, emerging issues, or debates in international studies. They should present a clear central argument, engage with relevant scholarly literature, and explain the implications of the argument for research or policy.

4. Editorial Articles
Editorial Articles address themes, debates, or developments relevant to the journal's intellectual agenda. They may introduce an issue, frame a significant scholarly discussion, or provide an editorial perspective on developments in international studies. Editorial Articles are subject to editorial assessment and any applicable review procedures determined by the journal.

General Requirements
All submissions must fall within the journal's focus and scope, demonstrate scholarly relevance, comply with publication ethics, and follow the journal's author guidelines.

Manuscripts must be original, must not have been published previously in substantially the same form, and must not be under consideration by another journal at the same time. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources are properly acknowledged and that any necessary research ethics approvals or permissions have been obtained.

The Editorial Team may return submissions that do not meet the journal's requirements before peer review. Acceptance of a manuscript type does not guarantee publication.

Authors should consult the Author Guidelines for detailed information on manuscript structure, length, referencing style, language, and submission requirements.
