Abstract
This paper attempts to discuss how South Korea employs its approach to advance the national interest, especially in improving its economy through the halal food industry, using qualitative methodology and document-based literature studies. The author based this research on gastrodiplomacy theory and the Halal industry concept. The findings of this research show that when the Covid-19 outbreak hit, South Korea made several efforts to protect its national interest by increasing Halal products deliveries to Indonesia. That Halal products poses challenges to diplomatic relations between the two countries. One of South Korea's steps in dealing with this is promoting halal food in Indonesia through collaboration with Halal certification providers and the K-Food Fair, has been held before the Covid-19 outbreak. This conclusion is significant because, diplomacy allows Indonesia and South Korea to expand their economy while preserving a positive relationship.
